In Casalbeltrame, in the heart of the Novara area, lies Tenuta La Mondina , a historic property of the Guidobono Cavalchini family. Rice has been grown here for centuries: as early as the late 17th century, the Gautieri family, nobles from the County of Nice, settled in these lands, introducing innovations in irrigation and cultivation methods.
Today, the estate encompasses approximately 200 hectares , over half of which is dedicated to rice paddies. This agricultural heritage, as several industry publications report, exemplifies the blend of tradition and innovation.
A family legacy that looks to the future
After the Gautieri family, management passed to the Marquises Cuttica di Cassine and finally to the Barons Guidobono Cavalchini, who continue to preserve and develop this agricultural heritage. In recent years, the estate's revival has been linked to Cristina Brizzolari, who relaunched the Riso Buono brand and adopted a modern approach to packaging: elegant glass jars that preserve the aroma and freshness of the grain.
